LAST YEAR the Shorebreak held  ten rooms at $159.00/night. Waiting to hear back from them. Howard Johnson’s will offer a KITE PARTY rate, which may or may not save you much, but will keep the owner, Sonia, from paying commission, and she’s a really nice lady. Sun N’ Sands will also give you a special rate, and they are right across the street and only a few blocks up. They are a less expensive alternative to Shorebreak, though not as luxurious. Just plain, clean, comfortable rooms.

SLEEPER ALERT! Last year Rob from New Tech stayed at a Motel 6 in Costa Mesa, but it’s actually the same distance or closer to the beach here than the Howard Johnson’s even and was very cheap. It was recently re-modeled, and he said it was great. The address is: 2274 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA. I have a call into the manager, but that may be a good place to stay. The location on Newport Blvd. is only about a mile from PCH, then 3-4 miles from there to the pier!
